Dr Russell Carrington joined BioMed North Limited in July 2002, and brings a background in Medical Research, Biophysics, Sports Science, and consulting Project Management to his current IP and Commercialisation management role. He concentrates on IP mining and protection; market analysis and research; collaborative and contract research agreements with industry partners; and on policy and operational development for NSW Area Health Services.

Dr Carrington's own research interests included cardiac assist and heart failure models with the CRC for Cardiac Technology - his subsequent PhD awarded in 2001 investigated an implantable ventricular assist device and its effects on cardiac mechanoenergetics and efficiency.

He also previously worked in Biomechanics, in Sports Science and Medicine at the Australian Institute of Sport in the ACT, specialising in human movement instrumentation and motion analysis of elite athletes, and is an accomplished strength and conditioning trainer. Dr Carrington also managed projects in corporate recovery for Boston Commercial Services Pty Ltd's clients; KPMG and American Express Incorporated; and in business and technical procedures for an IT SME, Purruna Pty Ltd.
