Paul Dugdale is Director of the Chronic Disease Management, Unit, Aged Care and Rehabilitation Services, ACT Health which he established in 2008. He is also currently Director of the ANU Centre for Health Stewardship.

He was previously the ACT Chief Health Officer and Executive Director of the Population Health Division, ACT Health. He is a member of the National Health and Medical Research Council and the Australian Council for Safety and Quality in Health Care. He has previously worked in the Health Financing Division of the Commonwealth Department of Health, Health Service Planning in NSW Health, was Medical Superintendent at Liverpool Hospital (Sydney) and was private secretary to the Commonwealth Minister for Health Neal Blewett. His research interests include health policy, financing and regulation from a social and political theory perspective.

He is a public health physician. He has previously held directorships of several not-for-profit companies including Care Plus Inc., Assisting Drug Dependants Inc., and Musica Viva Australia.
